From the Principal

All of life is worship

Jesus teaches the importance of worshipping God alone.

"Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only." (Matthew 4:10)

He set the example in life and in action, and after his suffering and death, he ascended to heaven to take his place at the right hand of God, where he is worshipped forever.

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." (Rev 4:11)

When read Revelation 4 we see that worship belongs to God alone, that the purpose of our worship is to glorify God and proclaim his holiness. Worship is an all-of-life experience and is more than just words - our worship of God is to be never ceasing! God gave us community so that we can worship him corporately.

God is life’s most significant reality: radically worthy to receive glory, honour and power. In 2025 as we consider the theme of Worship we will ultimately explore why we exist: for the glory of God and to enjoy him forever.

I’m really looking forward to 2025. As a staff team we have put a lot of planning and thinking into what 2025 should look like and we are excited to start putting those plans into action, be they for sporting activities, camps or engaging lessons every day.

We have had some great improvements to the school site over the Christmas break. Throughout 2025 we will continue to see some minor disruptions as building works continue.

As a school we have a rich heritage of academic excellence, evidenced by our outstanding HSC results in 2024, but also a heritage that places Christ and God’s word at the centre of all we do as we seek to give God the glory.

May God give each of us a spirit of true worship that we might truly worship him on earth as he is worshipped in heaven among all his creation! He is the Lord, and he is "worthy … to receive glory and honour and power, for he created all things, and by his will they were created and have their being." Amen.

Welcome to 2025 at ICS!

School Site Update

Illawarra Christian School continues grow and we are excited to welcome new staff, students and families to our school community in 2025. With the growing number of students and needs within our school, over the Christmas holidays period some minor improvements to the school facilities were carried out.

B and D Blocks received a fresh coat of paint - making them feel brighter, more modern and connected to the rest of the school site. The COLA now feels more spacious and is a more engaging place for students to play and gather.

New playground equipment is being installed in the Valley playground area to replace the old playground near A Block, which has been removed to create more open space. Access to the Valley is currently being upgraded with an additional access point near the Primary Library. This work should be completed during Term 1.

The Hall is now fully air-conditioned! This will make whole-school assemblies and gatherings much cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. We look forward to hosting school events in this space.

The old Sport storage room has been renovated into the Music Box which will be the new location for our Infants/Primary Strings program. One of the storage containers has been moved away from the oval area, creating more space to play. Additionally, some shaded picnic tables are in the final stages of installation near the Hall.

The Business Centre has been relocated from Calderwood Christian School to ICS and is now comfortably accommodated in office space near the front of the school.

During 2025, we have some ambitious building and renovation plans which will commence to provide additional classrooms, playground space and much needed facilities.

We love having parents at school! Why not come and check out some of the changes at the first Coffee with the Principal on Friday 7 March at 9:15am? We'd love to see you there.
