At the beginning of Term 2, our Year 9 Duke of Ed students braved the rainy conditions and soggy trails as they embarked on their practise hike.

Hear below from Year 9 student Miriam about the hike!

"Our Bronze Duke of Edinburgh practice hike was definitely an adventure! The first leg of our journey led us from Panorama House up to Sublime Point. Along the “trail”, our creative skills were tested as we paved our own paths through the flooded track! Upon reaching Sublime Point, we were faced with the terrifying realisation that an army of leeches would be waiting for us as we travelled to Stanwell Tops!
As we courageously trudged along the track (trying our utmost to avoid becoming lunch for the hungry leeches) we found ourselves shin-deep in water! Feeling like we were carrying the Pacific Ocean in our shoes, we were able to enjoy stunning lookouts and crossed a gorgeous dam. Arriving to the campsite, we speedily set up our tents and settled in for a rainy night.
On our second day, we were blessed with no rain! We enjoyed an amazing beach and faced a challenging uphill climb to get back on track! On our way to the train station, we had our eyes set on warm showers and dry socks.
Overall, our first DofE experience was a very memorable one. Despite its challenges, everyone had an amazing time. Looking forward to our next (hopefully sunny) hike!!"
