Students in Years 7 and 11 enjoyed a great day at Mount Keira Scout Camp yesterday for their Peer Support day.
As part of the program, our Year 7 students were led in group sessions on topics including empathy, optimism and positive self-talk, also enjoying morning tea, lunch, and some free time well spent in the pool throughout the day.
Year 11 Peer Support student Zoe Fahey reflected on the day:
"After our wild experience being washed off the mountain in Week 2, the sunny day made our trip to Mt Keira one that gave Year 7 a definitive sense of community. This genuine care and support for one another shone through in ways that were unapparent beforehand.
In sessions, they gained knowledge that they then put into practice by being sympathetic to one another and even through bugs and leeches, they showed resilience and perseverance. They encouraged one another, they stood by one another and found comfort in God and His assurance of providing strength and purpose.
Year 11 was so blessed to be able to support the Year 7s and help them manoeuvre through high-school with skills and faith that God is always on their side, and will stay by them for the rest of their schooling."
