Kate Robinson, one of our Year 12 Textiles and Design students from 2021, has been selected to exhibit her major work as part of the TEXStyle Exhibition currently held at Gallery76, Concord West. The TEXStyle Exhibition is a showcase of outstanding major works from HSC Textiles and Design students, and Kate's inclusion is a testament to the exceptional quality of her major work.
Kate says about her project:
"My Major Textiles Project was inspired by mid-1990s runway fashion, specifically Chanel and Anna Sui, and the use of couture techniques in high-fashion garments.
The outfit consists of a couture suit jacket and a 1960s-style babydoll dress. Textured wool bouclé fabric and digitally-printed fabric for the lining were used to create the jacket, and the dress was made from crystal organza fabric.
Specialised construction techniques included hand-sewn seams and quilting in the jacket lining, pintucks, darts, gathering, hand-made binding, rolled hem, French seams, insertion of an invisible zipper, and hand-stitched beading."
Congratulations Kate! We're so proud of your extraordinary achievement!
