Academic, Secondary School

On Tuesday, June 18, nine secondary students represented ICS at the South Coast Public Speaking Competition at Holy Spirit College in Bellambi. Competing among a strong field of 13 public and private schools from across south-west Sydney, the Southern Highlands and the Illawarra, our ICS team registered a fourth-place result, with a number of students receiving awards for their speeches.

ICS' fourth-place finish was a fantastic result, with the team partially depleted due to illness. Five students received awards as they placed in their divisions.

Congratulations to the following students:

  • Natalia D. (Year 11) – First place
  • Fraya V. (Year 11) – Second place
  • Nikhil C. (Year 7) – Second place
  • Eliza B. (Year 7) – Second place
  • Piper S. (Year 9) – Third place

Congratulations also to the following students in the ICS team for their impressive presentations on the night:

  • Rosalind G. (Year 8)
  • Mia D. (Year 9)
  • Mia I. (Year 9)
  • Clara L. (Year 11)

Thank you to the teachers from our English faculty who have been coaching these students for the past term, and who braved the cold to support these students on the night of the competition.

Commendations also to these students for the preparation and effort they have applied to sharpen their public speaking skills!
