Kindergarten 2021 settling in to school

Kinder have had a fun and fabulous start to school!
Our new Kindergarten students have settled into school routines quickly and are becoming experts at giving their five Ls for listening: Listening ears, Looking at the speaker, Lips zipped, hands in Lap, and Legs crossed!
They have become familiar with the playground and where they can and can't play (looking out for the stop signs that help us). They are also excellent at spotting the teacher in the yellow vest and knowing when it is the right time to play.
In our very first week of Kindergarten, we have enjoyed learning about the parts of the Bible and how it is the best book to read. We loved hearing Mr Lainson talk about how important it is to read the Bible and crave God's word at our very first whole school assembly. In Maths, we have been using a tens frame to make different numbers and learning how to write them, making sure we start from the right spot. In English we have explored the nursery rhyme 'Mary had a Little Lamb', finding rhyming words and clapping out the syllables. We are also enjoying singing the phonics song each day to learn the sounds letters make when they are in words.
Kindergarten was very excited to paint using watercolours and enjoyed seeing the colours mix to make new colours during our first art lesson. We had some very creative pictures, including some that looked like beautiful sunsets!
We have also started exploring families and why they are important to us. We are so thankful God gave us families so we wouldn't need to be alone. We have been learning so much already but having so much fun as we learn together.
