Our Year 11 Textiles and Design students travelled to Concord West recently to view the TEXStyle Exhibition at Gallery 76. The exhibition showcased a wide range of exemplary Major Textile Projects from 2022.
Textiles and Design teacher Mrs Shelley Whitelock reflected on the excursion:
"Students were particularly taken by the innovative and creative ways in which a project can be developed from a wide range of inspiration sources, materials and techniques.
Each of them honed in on specific projects which resonated with them, and were curious to learn more about how various effects and techniques can be achieved.
It was helpful to view examples of the supporting documentation accompanying the completed projects which communicated the entire process of developing design ideas, researching and experimenting, and justifying the final choices of materials, equipment and techniques in light of the initial inspiration.
This visit has already opened up many ideas for our students' own Major Textile Projects, which they will commence at the beginning of their Year 12 course later this year."
