ICS School Counsellor Mrs Jill English outlines the importance of belonging as we celebrate Harmony Week at ICS.
Belonging is something that we all need. God has created us as social beings, so Harmony Week is a great opportunity to celebrate the truth that "Everyone Belongs". Belonging is more than just being included in things; it's about feeling seen, heard and valued for who you are and your experiences.
God has made us all unique. Whether you come from a different culture, a different background, or have different experiences, it's important that everybody feels accepted and appreciated for their differences. By doing this we're all able to celebrate our individuality together, sharing in a nurturing environment.
When we feel like we belong, we thrive. Our confidence grows, our mental wellbeing improves, and we all become more connected to each other. Our sense of belonging improves our self-esteem, improves our mental health, and has a really positive impact on us being able to develop resilience.
So this Harmony Week, let's all take the time to remember that everyone should feel included and not feel alone or left out. Let's work hard on celebrating our differences, and where we can, share our stories, learn from each other, and grow together.
Let's make ICS a place where everyone belongs.
