ICS Year 11 student Chelsy Wayne has recently been overseas in Fiji representing Australia at the Oceania Athletics Championships!
Hear what she had to say about her incredible result in Fiji and what's ahead for her athletic pursuits.
Chelsy kicked off her time at the Championships as Australia's flagbearer during the opening ceremony – an incredible recognition of her talents!
Competing in the Under-18 Women's Discus event, Chelsy recorded an impressive throw of 47.64 metres, netting her a second-place finish and a silver medal!
"It was an amazing experience to represent Australia again and meeting new people from all around Oceania.
I came second with a throw of 47.64m, which is a few meters off my personal best, so I was a little disappointed, but I’m going to keep training hard and working towards the next competition.
In August, I have the opportunity to represent Australia in Peru at the World Under 20 Athletics Championships, so I’m very excited about that, and just hoping to keep improving."
Congratulations on this incredible achievement, Chelsy! We look forward to seeing you compete at the World Under 20 Championships at the end of August.
