Get to know ICS Alumna Domenica Belsito! Hear about her favourite parts of her time at ICS, how her time at school shaped her faith, and how that's influenced her path post-school.
Domenica attended ICS from Year 7 in 2018 until she graduated Year 12 in 2023.
Since leaving school, she has studied a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Wollongong, majoring in sociology and theatre, and will commence a Masters of Secondary teaching in 2027. She also currently works at ICS as a teacher's aide.
Q: What were your favourite parts of your schooling at ICS?
"I loved my time at ICS. I had a really awesome Secondary School experience.
I’ve probably got two highlights – the first one was Stage 6 Drama. I loved my time in that class, we were such a tight group. We were able to bounce ideas off in such a safe space, our teacher was awesome, and I was able to foster my love for performing arts, and just learn and grow in so many aspects of theatre, and I can now use that at Uni, which is great.
The second thing is definitely the mentor program that we do in Year 12, where you’re able to have a teacher pour into your life, for both your faith and to help you along with your schoolwork in such a hectic time as Year 12."
Q: How did your time at ICS help shape or grow your faith?
"I think as a young person, it’s really easy to kind of go with what everyone else is doing, so being in a community that fosters your love for Jesus and helps you grow was really encouraging. I got that from both my teachers and my peers, which was amazing.
When I was in Year 7, I got invited to Christ for the Coast with a bunch of people in my year, and seeing almost everyone there was super encouraging, because they weren’t just learning about Jesus at school, but applying that to the outside world as well, which was really encouraging for me."
Q: How has your faith influenced what you've chosen to do since leaving school?
"When I came to ICS, I was really encouraged by all the teachers who were really supportive of me, and were really helping me grow, and after leaving school, I was really torn and confused about what my next steps should be. So, I stayed in touch with my mentor, and she continued to help me, pray for me, and figure out what the best thing to do was, and that was such an awesome thing for me.
I would love to be able to do that for someone else, and pour into their life, and support them through challenging times such as Year 12, or just school in general, and be able to talk about Jesus while I do it."
