During Week 3, six ICS teams competed at the Illawarra Regional da Vinci Decathlon. Schools from all over the region and beyond gathered to challenge themselves at this incredible event, consisting of ten different disciplines inspired by the many talents of Leonardo da Vinci.
The week was capped off by the achievements of Years 9 and 10, with both teams defending their titles from 2022 to place first overall in the region.
The Year 10 team celebrated victories in the Cartography, English, Ideation, Legacy and Mathematics fields. Additionally, they earned a well-deserved second place in Art and Poetry.
The results of the Year 9 team were just as exceptional, placing first in Cartography, Engineering, Ideation and Legacy, and finishing second in Art and Poetry, English, and Science.
Earlier in the week, Year 6 secured an impressive second place overall, marked by their first-placed finishes in Science and Ideation. The Year 6 team also placed third in English, Mathematics, and their Creative Producers were also voted the third best.
These successful teams will now advance to the State da Vinci Decathlon, scheduled to take place at Knox Grammar School in July.
In addition to these exceptional results, several other year groups from Illawarra Christian School participated throughout the week.
The Year 7 team celebrated first-place victories in Ideation and Legacy, while their Creative Producers also placed second. Meanwhile, the Year 8 team showcased their skills and secured second place in Ideation.
The Year 5 team also recorded a couple of successful results, placing first in Ideation and recording a second-place result in Codebreaking.
We would also like to thank and congratulate the dedicated coaches who guided and mentored the teams: Mr. Caleb Jones, the Year 5 and 6 coach, Mrs. Sarah Howarth, the Year 7 and 8 coach, and Mrs. Simone Brown, the Year 9 and 10 coach.
Well done to all our da Vinci Decathletes, especially our Years 10, 9 and 6 teams!
