Our Future Problem Solvers On Top Of The World!

Over the past couple of weeks, 12 ICS students, Mrs Simone Brown and five parent helpers have been in the USA as they prepare to compete at the International Future Problem Solving Program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Massachusetts, USA.

We're pleased to report some incredible results from the competition, which has just wrapped up after it took place over the weekend of June 9-11.

Here's what Mrs Simone Brown had to say about the weekend's competition:

All three teams committed everything they had to their academic booklets and performances. Our students are an absolute delight. They worked together, respected everyone and made friends from around the world. We are very proud of each and every one of them!

  • Middle Division: Ben G, Connor L, Jazmine T, Madison H
  • Middle Division: Abbey P, Cody S, Jeremy S, Melody B
  • Senior Division: Abigail E, Ella S, Jayda B, Rosie F

Incredibly, all three teams made it to the finals of the Action Plan presentations!

Middle Division Winners!

We are thrilled to announce that one of our middle division teams (Abbey P, Cody S, Jeremy S and Melody B) has been named international champions for their performance of their action plan presentation. This was out of 70 teams from across the globe!

The team performed their winning act at the closing ceremony for over 2000 students, as well as parents, coaches and other spectators! A link to the performance can be found here!

Success in the Senior Division!

Our Senior Division team have placed 3rd in the world for their performance of their action plan presentation – amazing!

At the closing ceremony, the top 10 teams (out of about 60 senior teams) were named. Our senior division team (Abigail E, Ella S, Jayda B, Rosie F) placed 7th in the world. This is absolutely outstanding and to be awarded in both the academic booklet and the presentation is incredible. They can also be seen receiving their awards at the 1hr 38min mark of this video.

The teams enjoyed a couple of tourist days in New York City before heading home.

Congratulations to all our students that competed, and thank you to Mrs Brown and our parent helpers for their hard work in contributing to a successful trip!
